BMW N62 Oil Change
This was performed on a 2008 650i, but as the
title indicates, its good for all the N62 engines. (all other engines, these
steps may not be the same, please use with caution)
Tools needed (besides the obvious oil catch
pan, ramps, oil and oil filter.)
1st = 8mm (Plastic cover), 2nd = 8mm (Main
drain plug), 3rd = T40 (Oil filter drain plug), 4th = 24mm (Oil filter housing)
After the car is jacked up, you will find this
plastic cover, remove this cover.
Remove oil drain plug. (remember to put the
catch pan below!)
Drain the oil from the oil drain plug.
Change the oring on the oil drain plug.
After draining the oil filter housing, remove
the oil filter housing.
Picture of the new and old oil filter.
Change out the oil filter housing oring.
assemble everything back and make sure there
are no leaks. Fill up with the new oil and you are all good to go! And you just
saved about $100 vs. bring it to the dealer.
